Our jaunt to Oregon two weeks ago took us to Pacific City. We decided to head out to the beach Saturday after breakfast and take advantage of such a lovely, sunny day. Looking out at Haystack Rock at Cape Kiwanda. The more famous rock is located near Cannon Beach, OR.
Pacific City is home to the Pacific Dory Fleet. We really enjoyed watching them as they came in for the day. Our good friend Kathleen's father was a doryman for many, many years. She and her family have such awesome stories to tell about her dad and his dory.
Jordan and his remote control truck. The beach was the perfect place to play with it!
Cape Kiwanda is popular for kite flying. . . . . Jaeden and Keith flew theirs as well as Brooklyn (no, they didn't fly Brooklyn - she flew her kite).
We took a lovely drive Sunday morning down the coast to Lincoln City with them. This was a viewpoint on our way back north.
A stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory was a must on our way back home to WA. Not sure where in the process of making cheese this is, nor what exactly they might be doing. It looked to me like the cheese curds were being stirred and broken up with the giant mixer machine. The workers would pick up bigger pieces and break them up by hand.
I do know that in this area, the cheese was being made into blocks, packaged, weighed and then sent to another area for boxing, date stamps and storage for aging.

Checking out the tide pools.
The REAL owners of the 'stang.

Tillamook ice cream - yummmmm. . . . .
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway and can't wait to go back. I first fell in love with the Oregon coast almost 10 years ago and never tire of seeing it's beauty.
