Last Day of School

Yup, it's the last day of school for all three kids and what am I doing? Blogging...hmmm, seems I ought to be taking better advantage of these last couple of hours of "free" time.

Here is that must-see video clip of what we call our little Houdini. We've put off building a nice fence till we see how she does staying in this one. We discovered within minutes that she'd climb the parts of the fence that were squares so we put up slick plastic over the lower parts. Then we found out she'd jump to the top of that and use it as a stepping stool to get over the top. So we moved the slick plastic to the tops of the fence. She figured out how to jump right over it. Then we decided to move the slick plastic 12 inches or so above the fence line. So that kept her in a couple of days worth. Then she discovered the raised part in front of the wooden gate where she could just jump right over. So I put something on top of that and that kept her in. Well, most recently she figured out how to climb this part of the fence with the tall rectangles. Ugh! What to do, what to do. So now that is currently covered with slick plastic. It's only a matter of hours before she figures out she can dig underneath or some such thing. And we've only had her two weeks! You can see her stand back and just evaluate everything to see what the next way of escape is to be. Hence the name Houdini - if there's a way to get out, she'll be the first to find it. We need at least a 6 foot slick fence! No places for footholds. Anyway, we see some humor in it, but it is starting to drive us batty...

Yes, she did make it OVER the fence as she has multiple other times!

Do you remember Hobo???? We buried rocks beneath the fence so he couldn't dig out, built a 6 foot fence around the perimeter, and he still ran like his name. When he escaped and you yelled "HOOOOBOOOO!!" he would catch second gear.

Oh Anita...that's quite simply astounding! I had to sit back and just laugh. Oh you hate to break that spirit, huh? What a wonderful little dog she is. :) Cheryl
